Medical student awarded Barry Freeman Memorial Fellowship

of Iowa Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine to receive a Barry
Freeman Memorial Fellowship.
The Barry Freeman Fellowship Fund was created through the UI Foundation
by the family of Barry Freeman, who was a medical student at the time of his
death in 1972. Since the fellowship program began in 1981, it has provided
the resources for more than 160 students. The fellowship gives UI medical
students a unique learning opportunity that expands their worldview of health
care. The fellowship requires students to spend a minimum of eight weeks in
a developing country while gaining medical experience.
