UI engineering lecture scheduled April 25
Ajit P. Yoganathan, Regents' Professor and associate chair for graduate
studies in the Wallace H. Coulter Department of Biomedical Engineering, a
joint department of the Georgia Institute of Technology College of Engineering
and the Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, will deliver a Caterpillar
Distinguished Lecture at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, April 25, in Lecture Room 1 of
Van Allen Hall.
Yoganathan, whose areas of research interest include cardiovascular fluid
mechanics, artificial heart valves and Doppler ultrasound, plans to discuss
congenital heart defects in his talk, "Palliating Congenital Heart Lesions:
Developing Diagnostic Tools and Surgical Planning."
The lecture, free and open to the public, is sponsored by the University
of Iowa College of Engineering and the Caterpillar Foundation.
The Caterpillar Distinguished Lecture Colloquium is made possible by grants
awarded to the UI College of Engineering through the UI Foundation by the
Caterpillar Foundation of Peoria, Ill. The grants comprise the Caterpillar
Excellence Fund, which aids student, faculty and curriculum development in
the College of Engineering.
