Dale Fisher named director of education at UI Museum of Art
Dale Fisher has been named the director of education at the University of
Iowa Museum of Art. Fisher will plan and coordinate educational programs with
the UI community, area schools and adults, as well as administer the docent
program and assist in the marketing of museum events.
Fisher, who will begin his work at the museum June 1, is currently an assistant
professor at the University of Missouri in Columbia, where he teaches writing-intensive
art appreciation and two-dimensional design.
"I look forward to working with the academic and public audiences at
the University of Iowa," Fisher says. "The UI Museum of Art is a
great aesthetic and educational resource and I am excited to help carry out
the goals of the institution. It is a rich and rewarding way to spend a lifetime
-- discovering the humanity that is common to us all -- through the arts."
Fisher has taught at the elementary, high school and college levels. He
previously worked as the associate museum educator at the Museum of Art and
Archaeology in Columbia, Mo., and was a featured artist in the University
of Missouri exhibition, "Out of the Institution: Museum Professionals
as Artists," in October and November 2000.
Originally from Owensville, Mo., Fisher received a bachelor's degree in
education and a Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Missouri
