UI Dancers in Company presents Target Family Concert April 21

Dancers in Company, the touring repertory ensemble of the University of Iowa Dance Department, will perform on the Target Family Concert series at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 21, in the Space/Place Theatre of UI North Hall. The informal show -- a lecture/demonstration designed as a fun exploration of the world of dance for all ages -- was originally scheduled for March 2, but was postponed due to weather.

The 12-member Dancers in Company ensemble, which is chosen by audition, provides UI dance students with practical experience similar to that encountered by professional touring dance companies. The student dancers are required to maintain a diverse repertory while coping with travel and performing in a variety of facilities. Co-directors of the company are faculty members Jeffery Bullock and Charlotte Adams.

The April 21 Dancers in Company performance has been made possible through the support of Target Stores.

Events in the Target Community Concert series are free, but a $1 donation for adults is recommended. Donations will be accepted at the door. Space is limited, so calling 319-335-1618 or e-mailing < d-kenney-handler@uiowa.edu > to reserve seats is recommended.

North Hall is located at the north end of Madison Street on the UI campus. It is accessible from both Madison Street and the Anne Cleary Walk. Parking is available in the North Campus Parking Ramp.

Dancers in Company performs under the auspices of the UI Arts Share program. Arts Share is a UI program that provides artistic expertise from the Iowa Center for the Arts to schools, local arts councils, community arts associations, museums, senior citizen centers and other organizations throughout Iowa and the surrounding region. The Arts Share roster of touring artists includes more than 70 faculty members, ensembles, and graduate students in the performing, visual and literary arts.

The Dance Department and Arts Share are units of the Division of Performing Arts in the UI College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
