UI Arts Share program is now scheduling educational events throughout
IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The University of Iowa Arts Share program, which links
the resources of the Iowa Center for the Arts with schools and other community
organizations throughout Iowa and beyond, is now scheduling its roster of
faculty and graduate student artists for the 2001-2002 academic year. A free
program guide and artist roster is available from the Arts Share office, Theatre

The Arts Share roster includes nearly 100 individual faculty artists, graduate
student artists and ensembles in music, theater, dance, the visual arts and
creative writing. The extensive list of ensembles include Dancers in Company,
the UI dance department's versatile repertory ensemble; Black Action Theatre;
the international award-winning Johnson County Landmark jazz band; the perennially
popular Iowa Percussion Ensemble; and even the UI Symphony Orchestra.
The artists are available for a variety of activities, including performances,
workshops, residencies, clinics, master classes, readings and lecture/demonstrations.
The program will design special projects to meet the needs of communities.
For example, many schools have used Arts Share to organize arts days, combining
Arts Share artists from several artistic fields.
Arts Share will also present a variety of educational events on the UI campus
during the coming year, primarily for school groups, featuring the Johnson
County Landmark Big Band, the WIZARDS! double reed consort, the Iowa Brass
Quintet, the UI Percussion Ensemble and Steel Band, the La Fosse Baroque Ensemble,
Dancers in Company, the UI Chamber Orchestra and productions of University
The Arts Share program guide also includes information about Hancher Auditorium's
Stage Door series and ICN events.
Arts Share artists are affordable, with fees as low as $50 plus expenses.
Corporate-sponsored scholarships are available for some Arts Share artists
and events, and funding may also be available through the Iowa Arts Council.
Corporate sponsors for Arts Share during the 2001-2002 season are the Alliant
Energy Foundation, the Principal Financial Group, the Land O' Lakes Foundation
and Target Stores. Arts Share is a program of the UI Division of Performing
