UI faculty attend annual gynecologic society meeting
Two University of Iowa Health Care specialists recently
played key roles in the annual meeting of the Society for Gynecologic Investigation
in Toronto, Canada.
Jennifer Niebyl, M.D., head of the UI department of obstetrics
and gynecology, completed her year of service as president of the Society
at the meeting. The Society for Gynecologic Investigation is a nonprofit,
international scientific organization working to promote excellence in the
fields of obstetrics, gynecology, reproductive medicine and gynecologic oncology.
The Society is comprised of 1,000 members, including 180 international
The Societys annual meeting also featured Mary Hendrix,
Ph.D., head of the UI department of anatomy and cell biology and deputy director
for the Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center at the UI. Hendrix delivered the
Presidents Distinguished Guest Lecture. Her address was titled, "Molecular
Determinants of Cancer."
