UI hosts seminar on use of estrogen during menopause
BETTENDORF, Iowa -- The University of Iowa Alumni Association and University
of Iowa Health Care are co-sponsoring a program about the use of estrogen
during menopause at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 25 at the Bettendorf Public Library,
2950 Learning Campus Drive.
Dr. Susan Johnson, professor in the UI department of obstetrics and gynecology
will give a presentation focusing on the uses and risks of estrogen in menopausal
hormone replacement therapy (HRT). Treatment for hot flashes will be discussed,
as well as osteoporosis and heart disease prevention. Finally, guidelines
for making decisions regarding HRT will be covered.
