UI Health Care specialist to lead online chat on heart failure Feb. 12

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- John S. Chase, M.D., a cardiologist and an associate professor of internal medicine with University of Iowa Health Care, will lead an hour-long, online question-and-answer discussion on heart failure with a nationwide audience from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 12.

The online chat will be hosted by AmericasDoctor.com and can be accessed by entering through the www.AmericasDoctor.com home page under "Upcoming Events."

Heart failure refers to the condition when the pumping power of the heart fails to meet the circulatory demands of the body. Heart failure usually is the end phase of a long-lasting heart disease and requires physician monitoring, special therapeutic regimens and an adequate change in the style of life. Comprehensive programs for the management of heart failure are available through University of Iowa Health Care. Chase will discuss patient issues related to heart failure and treatment modalities.

Chase received his medical degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, N.C., and completed a residency at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas and a fellowship at the UI Hospitals and Clinics. He joined University of Iowa Health Care in 1999.

Chase is an associate in the American College of Physicians and an affiliate in training in the American College of Cardiology. His research interest is in the area of heart failure.
