FastTrac New Venture entrepreneurial training program starts Feb. 20
IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center and Small Business
Development Center at the University of Iowa will again offer the nationally
acclaimed FastTrac Planning entrepreneurial training program in Iowa City
beginning Feb. 20.
This year the Pappajohn Center is offering a six-session accelerated FastTrac
Planning course for aspiring entrepreneurs and existing business owners needing
to complete a business plan. The class will meet Tuesday and Thursday evenings
beginning Feb. 20.
"This new offering is designed to meet both the educational and timing
needs of area entrepreneurs," said David Hensley, director of the Pappajohn
Center. "We have designed the program to include the most critical information
required for completing a business plan while enhancing the quality of materials
and ongoing support required by participants. The course is open to anyone
in need of business planning assistance -- individuals developing a plan to
launch a new venture and entrepreneurs wanting to develop new strategies for
increased growth and profitability."
During each three-hour session, participants receive high-quality instruction
from experienced entrepreneurs and educators. In addition, guest entrepreneurs
and local business experts share their experiences and knowledge with the
class. Participants also have time to network with other entrepreneurs and
work on their plans to launch or grow their ventures.
Specific topics include legal and management issues, market research and
analysis, financial forecasting and cash flow management, and sources of financing.
The cost for FastTrac Planning is $99, which includes tuition, course materials,
and one-on-one mentoring; the program normally costs $399. Enrollment begins
Feb. 1 and runs through
Feb. 19;; seating is limited. Questions or requests for registration materials
should be directed to the Pappajohn Center at (319) 335-1022.
FastTrac programs are also offered at community colleges throughout Iowa.
Since 1997, over 1400 Iowans have participated in the FastTrac entrepreneurial
training programs. This statewide initiative is being supported by the Iowa
Department of Economic Development, the Kauffman Center for Entrepreneurial
Leadership at the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, the Iowa Association of
Business and Industry, the Iowa Farm Bureau Federation, Software and Information
Technology of Iowa, the Iowa Biotechnology Association and the Iowa Small
Business Development Centers.
