FLARE hosts information session Dec. 13

The University of Iowa Foreign Language Acquisition Research and Education (FLARE) program will sponsor a research poster session on second language acquisition and foreign language teaching Thursday, Dec. 13, from 3 to 5 p.m. in the International Center Lounge. This event is open to the public.

Graduate and undergraduate students will use posters to display their research on topics such as: teaching and learning culture in the language classroom; development of reading and writing skills in a second language; use of technology in language teaching; ethnographic studies of cultures and subcultures; critical periods in language acquisition; e-pals in world language class; the use of technology, class size and world language instruction; and more.

Faculty and student facilitators will be available to talk with guests and other researchers on an informal basis. There will be no formal presentations, so people can drop in at their convenience. FLARE is part of International Programs, which consists of a number of offices, centers, degree programs, academic programs, research projects and services.
