UI nursing faculty assumes presidency of international organization
IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Debra L. Schutte, Ph.D., assistant professor of nursing
at the University of Iowa, assumed the presidency of the International Society
of Nurses in Genetics, Inc., at the organization's annual conference in October.
Her term as president will last one year. Schutte's research interests include
genetics and Alzheimer's disease, and she currently is co-investigator, with
principal investigator Janet K. Williams, Ph.D., of a study on family health
after predictive genetic testing for Huntington's disease.
The UI College of Nursing is one of just four institutions in the United
States with graduate programs in genetics nursing. The college offers both
a master's degree specialty and a postdoctoral fellowship in genetics.
