Radiothon raises more than $45,000 for Children's Miracle Network

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The B Breakfast Crew with Julia Bradley and Jeff James of mid-days at B-100 99.7 FM reported today that they raised $45,100 for the Children's Miracle Network during a 100-hour radiothon last week.

Proceeds of the event will benefit patients of the Children's Hospital of Iowa at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City and its outreach clinics across the state. One hundred percent of all donations to the radiothon remain in the local region to benefit critically ill and injured children. More than 100,000 children receive care at the Children's Hospital of Iowa each year, including thousands from eastern Iowa and western Illinois.

"We are so proud of our listeners," Bradley said. "They really came through when we asked them to support the children who are treated at the Children’s Hospital of Iowa."

"The radiothon was an incredible experience for us as well. We were also deeply touched by the stories that the children and their families shared with us," said co-host James.

The radiothon was broadcast live from NorthPark Mall in Davenport. The event kicked off at 5:30 a.m. Aug. 14 and concluded at noon Saturday, Aug. 18. Bradley and James shared the stories of former and current patients of the Children's Hospital of Iowa, and the dedicated physicians, nurses and other health care professionals who care for them.

The Children's Miracle Network (CMN) is an international nonprofit organization dedicated to helping children by raising funds and awareness for 170 children's hospitals throughout North America. CMN partners with 135 radio stations and 200 television stations to help support critically ill and injured children. Since its inception in 1983, CMN has raised more than $2 billion for children’s hospitals, including $229 million in 2001 alone.

CMN reminds everyone who made a pledge recently to send in their donation as soon as possible so it can begin helping children immediately. If you have questions regarding your pledge or you would like more information about how you can help the CMN cause, contact Lisa Baum-Waters at (319) 335-8484.
