Dance Marathon sponsors Iowa/Wisconsin alcohol-free tailgate

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Those who wish to "park and party" with the Dance Marathon crew are invited to the alcohol-free tailgate this Saturday before the Iowa vs. Wisconsin football game. Free hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, and pop will be served beginning at 9 a.m. in Lot 14 south of Slater Residence Hall. The tailgate party is free and open to everyone and will include volleyball, spacewalk and other games with music provided by Murphy Sound.

The UI Dance Marathon is a student-run community organization that raises funds and awareness for families with children being treated in the pediatric oncology unit of the Children’s Hospital of Iowa of the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

Lot 14 is located at the northeast corner of Melrose and Grand avenues and is the UI’s designated alcohol-free lot. Football parking is available in all UI lots beginning at 7 a.m. for $5 per car. Game time this Saturday is 11:10 a.m.

Sponsorship for Lot 14 alcohol-free tailgates is through the Stepping Up Project, a community and campus coalition to reduce the harmful effects of excessive drinking, funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the nation's largest health care philanthropy.
