UI hosts November 16-17 ergonomics workshop

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The University of Iowa will host a hands-on workshop, "The Ergonomics of Hand-Arm and Whole-Body Vibration," Nov. 16-17 at the Iowa Memorial Union.

Workshop instructors will be Donald Wasserman, biomedical engineer and retired chief of occupational vibration, National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health; and David Wilder, associate professor of biomedical engineering, UI College of Engineering, associate professor of occupational and environmental health, UI College of Public Health and research scientist, Iowa Spine Research Center. Wasserman, the author of the first comprehensive textbook in its field, has published extensively and has lectured and taught courses on the subject for more than 20 years. Wilder has more than 20 years experience in the area of vibration's effect on the human spine, and for 25 years he has researched and published in the field of spinal biomechanics.

The workshop is designed for safety specialists, industrial hygienists, ergonomists and members of plant ergonomics committees, supervisors, foremen, occupational physicians and nurses, engineers, vehicle and tool manufacturers, and others.
