Suresh Pothuru, M.D., joins Centerville Medical Clinic

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- On June 5 Suresh Pothuru, M.D., an American Board of Internal Medicine-certified physician, will join the Centerville Medical Clinic in Centerville to provide primary care and internal medicine services.

Pothuru will join J.B. McConville, M.D., Larry Heikes, M.D., David Fraser, M.D. and physician assistant Dewey McConville. The clinic is an affiliate of University of Iowa Health Care.

"Dr. Pothuru will be a wonderful asset to our family care clinic," said Heikes, a family practice physician with Centerville Medical Clinic. "He is now the only internal medicine specialist on board, and we expect him to provide high-quality care to patients requiring more complex, long-term treatments such as patients with diabetes."

Pothuru has been chief medical resident in internal medicine/primary care at the University of Connecticut Health Center. During his five-year residency, he provided mainly primary care. He spent a year as a fellow in infectious diseases at the same center. Pothuru obtained his medical degree from the Government Medical College in Bellary, India, in May 1994.

"I'm very excited to be of service to all patients of the Centerville community," Pothuru said. "I will provide in-depth care to patients with chronic ailments, plus primary care and pre-operative consultation for surgical cases, as well as in many aspects of internal medicine. I'm particularly interested in infectious diseases and cardiology."

For more information or to schedule an appointment with Pothuru, call (515) 856-8684. Centerville Medical Clinic is located at 19876 St. Joseph Drive.
