Teleconference focuses on women in higher education March 27, 29
IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The Women's Campus Coalition in conjunction with the
Office of the Provost invite University of Iowa personnel to attend, "Women's
Lives, Voices, Solutions: Shaping a National Agenda for Women in Higher Education,"
a two half-day teleconference on Monday, March 27 and Wednesday, 29 at the
Iowa Memorial Union.
Monday's session "Women's Voices," begins at 11:30 a.m. with down
link from noon to
2 p.m. followed by discussion with a UI panel of experts. Wednesday's session,
"Women's Solutions," begins at 7:45 a.m. Discussion will be lead
by recognized UI faculty, staff and students. Topics include health and family;
the workplace; harassment and violence; activism and academics; and the classroom,
followed by teleconference down link from 10 a.m. to noon. Both sessions are
held in the Illinois Room, IMU, and are free and open to the public.
The conference is designed to have a long-lasting impact on women in higher
education and higher education institutions and was conceived and initiated
by former UI administrator Nancy "Rusty" Barcelo. Other UI sponsors
include Staff Council, Human Resources and Opportunity at Iowa.
