UI to honor Children and Healthcare Week
IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Specialists in the Children's Hospital of Iowa have planned
a full week of special events in honor of Children and Healthcare Week, scheduled
for March 19-25, 2000.
All week long, a special poster display will be placed in the Main Lobby
of the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. In addition, special events
are also scheduled daily throughout the week.
1:30 p.m., Monday, March 20, pediatric patients will deliver cookies
that they have baked to the nurses who help take care of children in the Children's
Hospital of Iowa.
1:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 21, children and their health care providers
will reverse roles. The children go to the "Doctors R Us Clinic"
where they will dress up as doctors and nurses and pretend to care for the
medical staff who normally cares for them.
10:30 a.m., Wednesday, March 22, a special guest will read books
during Story Hour to children in the Patient's Library on 8th floor of the
John Colloton Pavilion. This event is open to all patients, guests and visitors.
To locate the Patient's Library, take Elevator "F" to the 8th floor.
At 1:30 p.m., the Health Care Art event will be held.
1: 30 p.m., Thursday, March 23, professional photographer John Van
Allen will help patients look their best during the "Look Good, Feel
Better, Say 'Cheese' " photo session, Children can be made up, dress
up and have their photographs taken.
1: 30 p.m., Friday, March 24, staff members will perform for their
patients during the "Karaoke and Variety Show".
