IOWA SUMMER REP 2000 SIDEBAR -- Summer theatergoers may dine at Eddie's Landing

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Iowa Memorial Union Catering is once again this summer providing dinner service at the 8 p.m. performances of Iowa Summer Rep, June 22 through July 23 on the University of Iowa Theatre Building patio.

Because Iowa Summer Rep 2000 is a festival of plays by Edward Albee, the riverside dining opportunity has been dubbed Eddie's Landing this summer, and each of the three picnic-box choices available each evening are connected with the main Iowa Summer Rep productions.

"A Delicate Balance" includes assorted cheeses, served with strawberries, grapes, sliced crusty breads and a lemon tart dessert for $7.

"The Seascape" features smoked salmon pate; shrimp; fresh tomatoes, mozzarella and roasted peppers; herbed bread sticks; and fresh strawberry tart for $9.50.

"The Virginia Woolf" picnic will include sliced beef tenderloin with peppercorn sauce, smoked salmon pate with shrimp salad, a Muscatine melon "stick" wrapped with shaved prosciutto, grilled eggplant and feta salad in a tomato cup, and fresh strawberry tart for $12.

A variety of beverages will also be available.

Reservations for Eddie's Landing are required: Call 319-335-3105. Orders must be received before 5 p.m., one day in advance.

Reservation forms are available at the Hancher box office, Room 135 of the Iowa Memorial Union or the department of theatre arts in the Theatre Building. Reservations may also be placed on the World Wide Web at <www.imuis.uiowa.edu/food/sumrep>.

Picnics are available for 8 p.m. performances only and will be available for pick-up beginning at 6 p.m.
