MEDIA ADVISORY: BLOOD DONOR APPRECIATION EVENT JAN. 20

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The staff of the DeGowin Blood Center in the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics will honor people who donate blood and platelets during its annual Donor Appreciation Party, scheduled from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 20. The event is being held during National Volunteer Blood Donor Month.

At 5 p.m., a brief program will be presented, including remarks from Bob Elliott, a former assistant football coach of the Hawkeyes, who will discuss his experience as a bone marrow transplant patient.

The 2000 Donor Appreciation Party will be held in the Atrium Dining Room on 7 RCP. To locate the Atrium Dining Room, take Elevator "F" to the 7th floor. For assistance in covering this event, please contact either Tom Moore at (319) 356-3945 or Theresa Petersen at (319) 356-8327.
