Poetry reading group to meet Thursdays at Women's Center

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The Women's Resource and Action Center (WRAC) at the University of Iowa is continuing a poetry reading group for women. Living Poetry will meet Thursdays from 7-9 p.m. beginning Jan. 27 at the Women's Center, 130 North Madison St., across from the Iowa Memorial Union.

"Living Poetry" takes its name from the words of Audre Lorde, who wrote "Poetry is not a luxury." Poems that have touched group member's lives and personal work will be used to foster discussion. The goal of "Living Poetry" is to allow members to grow as people, lovers of words, and as members of a community.

Women of color are encouraged to attend. For more information or to arrange for accommodations and child care, call the Women's Center at (319) 335-1486.
