Bridging the Gap minority law conference set for March 24
IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Minority students interested in law careers are invited
to attend the 23rd annual "Bridging the Gap" minority pre-law conference
that will be held at the University of Iowa College of Law. The conference
begins at 8:30 a.m. Friday, March 24 and concludes with a dinner at 5:45 p.m.
The day will feature sessions on Law School Admissions Test preparation,
selecting a law school and opportunities in law financial aid. Attendees will
view a mock law class and a minority lawyers panel, as well as attend a writing
workshop. UI law professors and alumni, invited guests and Iowa City community
lawyers will speak on various subjects, and representatives from law schools,
including those in Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin and at Washington University
will be present at the day's recruitment fair.
"'Bridging the Gap' is an important opportunity for students of color
to be introduced to the field of law, to see what it can offer and to then
be informed about how to pursue it," says Camille deJorna, director of
UI Law Admissions.
The conference is $15 for UI students and $30 for non-students. For more
conference information, call (319) 335-6697.
