Women's Center, Iowa Women's Foundation offer investing workshop

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The Iowa Women's Foundation and the Women's Resource & Action Center will present the second workshop of the spring semester's Women and Money Series, "Advanced Topics in Investing: Going Beyond the Basics" Thursday, Feb. 17 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in Meeting Room A at the Iowa City Public Library.

Lois James, CFP and registered investment advisor at Raymond James Financial Services in Iowa City, will be the workshop presenter. James has 15 years of experience in financial advising. The workshop offers the opportunity for participants to learn about: combining investments to reduce risk; options for withdrawing money in retirement; and resources available to evaluate investments. Women of all income levels are invited to attend this free workshop to learn how they can take charge of their financial futures.

The "Women and Money: Putting the Pieces Together" workshops are made possible in part by support from the Johnson County Area Women's Network and the Altrusa Club of Iowa City and are sponsored by the Iowa Women's Foundation and the Women's Resource & Action Center.

Seating and materials for the workshops are limited, and pre-registration is requested. Please note that workshops may be cancelled if there are fewer than twelve registrants, so pre-registration is strongly encouraged. Although the workshops in this series are developed for women, men are also welcome to attend.

Upcoming workshops in The Women and Money series include: "Simplifying Money" on Thursday, March 23 and "Car Buying for Women" on Saturday, April 8. To register for the February workshop or for more information about upcoming workshops, contact the Iowa Women's Foundation at 319-337-4222 or e-mail at iwf@avalon.net.
