Candidates for UI Libraries director to give public presentation

IOWA CITY-Stella Bentley, the first of five candidates to be interviewed to be the next University of Iowa Librarian, will give a public presentation at 12:45 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 8 at the Old Capitol Senate Chamber. A question and answer session will follow and will end at 2:15 p.m.

Members of the UI community and the public are invited to attend the presentation.

Bentley is dean of libraries at Auburn University. She is a former assistant university librarian for collections and information services at the University of California-Santa Barbara.

Bentley's presentation is a part of the candidate's interview process. Nancy Baker, director of libraries, Washington State University, is scheduled to interview on campus Feb. 14-16.

Barbara Eckstein, search committee chair, says the remaining candidates, Wendy Pradt-Lougee, associate director, University of Michigan Library for Digital Library Initiatives, will interview Feb. 21-23; Lance Query, dean, University Libraries, Western Michigan University, Feb. 28-30; and David Kohl, dean and university librarian, University of Cincinnati, March 6-8.
