UI winter commencement exercises set for Dec. 15-16
IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The University of Iowa will confer more than 1,100 degrees
at winter commencement exercises to be held Friday and Saturday, Dec. 15 and
16, following the end of the fall academic session.
Ceremonies will be held for the Graduate College, the Henry B. Tippie College
of Business, the College of Engineering, and the Colleges of Liberal Arts,
Education, and Nursing. The ceremonies are open to the public. Seats are not
reserved and tickets are not necessary for admission. Doors will be open one
hour before each ceremony.
The schedule of ceremonies is:
Graduate College: Friday, Dec. 15, 7:30 p.m., at Hancher Auditorium. Number
of degree candidates: 209. Degrees will be conferred by David Skorton, UI
vice president for research.
Henry B. Tippie College of Business: Saturday, Dec. 16, 9 a.m., at Hancher
Auditorium. Number of degree candidates: 215. Degrees will be conferred by
Mark Schantz, general counsel.
Colleges of Liberal Arts, Education and Nursing: Saturday, Dec. 16, 10 a.m.,
at Carver Hawkeye Arena. Number of degree candidates: 595. President Mary
Sue Coleman will confer degrees.
College of Engineering: Saturday, Dec. 16, noon, Clapp Recital Hall. Number
of degree candidates: 59. Provost Jon Whitmore will confer degrees.
