Gloria Dei Lutheran Church to hold blood drive

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, in conjunction with the DeGowin Blood Center, UI Hospitals and Clinics, will hold a blood drive in the Gloria Dei fellowship hall on Thursday, Sept. 7, from noon to 5:30 p.m.

Blood donation is absolutely safe and harmless. The collected blood is used to save lives in emergency cases, for surgery patients, and for patients with life threatening blood disorders.

You may donate blood if you are at least 17 years old, weigh a minimum of 110 pounds, have not had cold or flu symptoms for five days, and have not donated blood since July 13. You must have eaten a good meal at least four hours prior to donating. Please bring a photo ID with you.
