Car seat safety checks available in Marengo
IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Area parents and family members can have free car seat-safety
checks from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16 at Charles Capper Auto Center
on Highway 6 in Marengo.
Michelle Malloy, pediatric nurse-practitioner at Marengo Medical Center
and UI Family Care Center, Belle Plaine, is a certified car seat-safety technician
and will check children's car seats to make sure each is secure and protective.
According to recent statistics, four out of five car seats are put in incorrectly.
A child's car seat cannot be protective if it is not installed properly.
The event is sponsored by General Motors, in conjunction with the Safe Kids
Coalition of Iowa, Charles Capper Auto Center and University of Iowa Health
