Stewart joins Heartland Family Health Associates in Perry

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- In July, Haydee J. Stewart, M.D., who specializes in family medicine, will join Heartland Family Health Associates, an affiliate of University of Iowa Health Care in Perry.

"I'm so excited that I will be able to provide care to the Perry community, and I'm committed to using preventive medicine and family medicine above all," Stewart said. "I think my key role is improving women's quality of life through disease prevention and patient education."

Stewart received her medical degree from the University of Visayas, the Philippines. After moving to the United States in 1995, she was for two consecutive years a resident in internal medicine at the St. Louis Medical Center, and a resident in coronary care, nuclear medicine and infectious disease at the St. John’s Medical Center in St. Louis. She completed her residency in family practice at the University of Alabama, Birmingham.

"As a female physician, Stewart will be a valuable addition to our clinic," said Eric Ash, M.D., a member of Heartland's team of family physicians. "Now, we will be able to better meet the needs of those female patients who prefer to be seen by a female physician."

Kari Engholm, CEO of Dallas County Health System in Perry, is excited to welcome Stewart to Perry. "I found her to be a very warm, caring individual," Engholm added. "We look forward to her arrival and we are committed to helping her build a successful practice."

"Stewart is dedicated to providing her patients with high-quality women's health care services," said Terry Protextor, who manages the UI Family Care network of clinics. "We are indeed very pleased to welcome her to Heartland Family Health Associates in Perry."

Stewart’s practice will be located at 616 Tenth Street in Perry. She will start seeing patients July 1. For more information, call (515) 465-3553.
