Resisting injustice is focus of new Women's Center
IOWA CITY, Iowa -- How injustice affects us and others
in the world is the focus of a new support and discussion group offered by
the Women's Resource and Action Center at the University of Iowa, beginning
Wednesday, Sept. 8.
"'Awakening Our Self' provides a support network for
men and women who want to actively resist injustice, because being an activist
can be very difficult," says Rachel Pickett, co-facilitator for the group.
In addition to providing "a safe and supportive environment
to talk about issues affecting us, 'Awakening Our Self' will help us challenge
our beliefs and consciously resist patriarchy," Pickett adds.
The six-week group meets at the Women's Resource and
Action Center, 130 N. Madison St. (across from the Iowa Memorial Union) from
7 to 8:30 p.m. Please call 335-1486 to regiser.
