IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Patricia Lounsbury, program director
of Iowa CHAMPS (Cardiovascular Health Assessment, Management and Prevention
Services) with University of Iowa Health Care, was recently elected to the
board of directors of the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary
Rehabilitation at the association's annual meeting in Phoenix, Ariz.
Lounsbury will serve on the board until September 2001.
Her election marks the first time that an Iowan has been elected to the board.
Previously, Lounsbury was also the first Iowan to be inducted as a fellow
of the association.
"I'm honored that my colleagues chose to ask me to serve
on the board of directors," Lounsbury said. "I'm looking forward to working
with the board and especially representing the views of my fellow cardiovascular
nurses." Lounsbury has directed Iowa CHAMPS since January 1990.
"Patty Lounsbury has done a marvelous job in caring for
patients enrolled in Iowa CHAMPS," said Michael Winniford, M.D., UI professor

to this national board demonstrates how highly she is respected by her peers."
