Washington Post's Bob Woodward To Speak
IOWA CITY, Iowa Members of the media will have
an opportunity to speak candidly with Washington Post journalist Bob Woodward,
who teamed with "Post" reporter Carl Bernstein to break the Watergate story
and expose other political corruption by the Nixon administration.
Woodward will not speak on a specific topic at the
press conference, but will take questions from conference attendees on almost
any matter. Media reporters who wish to attend should call the UI Lecture
Committee, sponsors of Woodward's visit, at (319) 335-3255.
At 7:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 22, Woodward will present
a free public lecture at the University of Iowa Memorial Union Main Lounge.
Woodward's and Carl Bernstein's investigative reports
about the June 1972 Watergate Hotel break-in helped earn The Washington Post
a 1973 Pulitzer Prize for its investigation of the Watergate case. Since then,
Woodward has become managing editor of investigative news for The Post. He
now makes frequent appearances as a commentator on television news shows such
as ABC-TV's "This Week," and he continues to publish. His latest book is "Shadow:
Five Presidents and the Legacy of Watergate 1974-1999."
