Career Services recognizes Enterprise Rent-A-Car as top intern employer

IOWA CITY, Iowa — Enterprise Rent-A-Car has been recognized as the top intern employer by University of Iowa Career Development Services.

The award, established last year, recognizes employers who provide consistently excellent internship opportunities for UI students.

"Their internship experiences have been consistently positive and the company maintains excellent contact with our office in the hiring and evaluation process. Students have always raved about the experiences they have had and the personnel at Enterprise," said Jane Schildroth, director of Career Development Services.

"UI Career Development Services continually provides enthusiastic, hard-working student interns who want to learn all aspects of running a business," said Julie Robeson, group recruiting manager of Enterprise Rent-A-Car in Davenport. "Enterprise's goal is to provide paid internships to students who want to learn while working in a fun, fast-paced environment."

Fortune magazine named Enterprise one of the "Best 100 Companies to Work For" in 1999.

In recognizing Enterprise, Career Development Services looked at criteria including learning opportunity, evaluation of progress and development of the intern, communication with Career Development Services and the intern, and the ability to fulfill the university's mission to provide quality learning opportunities for interns. Enterprise was selected from nearly 800 businesses in the program. Schildroth added that Enterprise has also demonstrated a commitment to hiring of students from diverse populations.

Career Development Services' mission is to help students investigate majors and careers, seek experiential learning opportunities, and document their experiences in a professional portfolio.
