Fall I-CASH meeting is Nov. 17
IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Iowas Center for Agricultural
Safety and Health (I-CASH) will hold its annual fall meeting from 8 a.m. to
5 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 17, at the Des Moines Botanical Center, 909 E. River
Drive in Des Moines.
The meeting gives individuals and organizations working
on farm health and safety issues the opportunity to exchange information on
their programs, research and activities with others working or interested
in agricultural health and safety.
Topics to be discussed will include the environmental
safety of large-scale livestock production and the socioeconomic and mental
health implications of the current farm crisis.
Stephen Gleason, director of the Iowa Department of
Public Health, will deliver the keynote address at the meeting.
In addition, there will be 15 presentations about
ongoing farm health and safety projects being conducted around the state.
I-CASH is a partnership including the UI, Iowa State
University, the Iowa Department of Public Health and the Iowa Department of
Agriculture and Land Stewardship. Its mission is to reduce illness and injuries
among Iowas agricultural population.
