Elder health series presents talk on long-term care insurance
IOWA CITY, Iowa -- "Long-term Care Insurance: What Do I Need?" will be the subject of a presentation by Janet Specht, Ph.D., at noon Thursday, May 27 at the Coralville United Methodist Church, 806 13th Ave.
Specht is an associate professor in the University of Iowa College of Nursing. Her program, focusing on how individuals and families can assess their need for long-term care insurance, is part of the Elder Health Series for the International Year of Older Persons 1999. Future programs in the series will present topics such as an overview of community elderly services and how to judge the quality of health care services.
The UI College of Nursing's adult and gerontology nursing area of study is working with other community members to organize events celebrating 1999 as the United Nations-designated International Year of Older Persons. Local celebrations will culminate Oct. 1 and 2 with a speaker, musical performances, intergenerational Olympic games and a business and activities fair. For more information, contact the adult and gerontology nursing area of study at (319) 335-7067.
