UI Alumni Association makes two new appointments
IOWA CITY, Iowa The University of Iowa Alumni Association
recently filled two staff positions. Susan Griffith, who has worked for the
Alumni Association since 1990, took over in March as its new director of alumni
programs. Hired as an editorial assistant for the Alumni Associations
communications department almost nine years ago, Griffith advanced to editorial
associate and later associate editor for the association. In 1998 she was
named managing editor of the Iowa Alumni Quarterly magazine.
In her new position, Griffith will work as the liaison
between the UI Alumni Association and its nearly 80 Iowa Clubs worldwide.
She will also oversee the Career Information Network, and she will manage
reunion weekends, outreach events, student member activities, special event
weekends, and the alumni band.
A Crawfordsville, Iowa, native, Griffith earned her
degree in history and political science from Iowa Wesleyan in Mount Pleasant
and has completed graduate coursework at UI. Prior to working for the Alumni
Association, Griffith was a licensing assistant for the UI mens athletics
Also, Janice Baldes joined the association in March
as a half-time graphic designer for the communications department. A native
of Elk River, Minn., Baldes graduated from Moorhead State University with
a bachelors degree in art. Before moving to Iowa City in 1997, Baldes
worked as a graphic designer for the Braas Company in Edina, Minn. She continues
to work for Braas and other clients as a freelancer and operates her own graphic
design business, SED Graphics, from her home.
