UI features health care at Iowa State Fair booth
IOWA CITY, Iowa--Those who take in summer festivities
at this year's Iowa State Fair in Des Moines from Aug. 12-22 can get a "checkup"
as they check out the UI's booth, "Iowa's Health Care: Getting Back to Your
Future." Featured activities include body fat testing, stress tests, behavioral
health, burn prevention and fire safety, blood pressure and cholesterol checks,
and healthy farmer screenings.
They also will be able to experience telemedicine
technology and view highlights of UI news, sports and information. Athletic
schedules and admissions information will be available at the booth, in addition
to a variety of other information and publications. Admissions staff and alumni
association members will be on hand to answer questions.
Coordinated by University Communications and Outreach
(UCO), this year's participants are University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics
(UIHC), Health Iowa, College of Public Health, Iowa Center for Agricultural
Safety and Health (I-CASH), University Libraries, Engineering/Health Sciences,
Telemedicine, University Hospital School, Hygienic Lab, Alumni Association,
and Office of Admissions. The display was created by audiovisual graphics
staff members: Jerry Best, design artist; Diana Brayton, Todd Erickson and

and Al Stroh, Jr. of Iowa City, and Christopher Larsen of Wellman.
The University of Iowa exhibit will be located in
the Varied Industries Building. Fair hours are 9 a.m.-9 p.m. daily. For more
