UI College of Nursing announces administrative appointments
IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The University of Iowa College of Nursing
has announced the appointment of two faculty members to administrative posts
in the college.
M. Patricia Donahue, Ph.D., will become associate dean
for academic affairs effective Aug. 15. She is a professor of nursing and
currently serves as director of undergraduate programs in the college. "Dr.
Donahue is a seasoned academic professional who brings great experience in
curriculum development in both graduate and undergraduate nursing education
and a track record of academic leadership," said Melanie Dreher, Ph.D., professor
and dean of the college. Donahue succeeds Mary Blegen, Ph.D., who has accepted
a position at the University of Colorado School of Nursing in Denver.
Gloria Bulechek, Ph.D., will become interim chair of the
college's Adult and Gerontology Nursing area of study effective Aug. 1. She
is a professor currently serving in the college's Organizations, Systems and
Community Nursing area of study. "Dr. Bulechek brings a national reputation
in nursing classification research and a strong academic and practice background
in adult health nursing to this position," Dreher said. Meridean Maas, Ph.D.,
the current chair of Adult and Gerontology Nursing, is taking a leave from
the position to serve as a distinguished visiting professor at the Wayne State
University College of Nursing in Detroit during the 1999-2000 academic year.
