a complimentary one-year membership in the academy to the outstanding senior
ACADEMY OF OPERATIVE DENTISTRY
AWARD: A certificate and a one-year subscription to the journal Operative
Dentistry to the student for excellence in operative dentistry at the undergraduate
AMERICAN ACADEMY OF DENTAL PRACTICE ADMINISTRATION AWARD:
A certificate of merit awarded to the graduating student who has shown the
most professional growth in managerial skills and development of outstanding
performance in four-handed dentistry.
AMERICAN ACADEMY OF ESTHETIC DENTISTRY AWARD: A certificate
and one-year subscription to the Journal of Esthetic Dentistry to the senior
dental student who demonstrates the most clinical proficiency and interest
in esthetic dentistry.
AMERICAN ACADEMY OF ORAL AND MAXILLOFACIAL PATHOLOGY AWARD:
A certificate to the senior student who has shown the most interest, accomplishment
and promise in the field of oral pathology.
AMERICAN ACADEMY OF ORAL AND MAXILLOFACIAL RADIOLOGY AWARD:
A certificate of merit to a senior student who has shown high achievement
in the undergraduate curriculum in oral and maxillofacial radiology.
AMERICAN ACADEMY OF ORAL MEDICINE AWARD: A certificate
of merit and a two-year membership in the academy and subscription to the
Oral Surgery, Oral Medicine, Oral Pathology, Oral Radiology and Endodontics
journal and reimbursement of the registration fee for one of the annual meetings
during the two-year membership to the senior student showing the most promise
in the field of oral medicine.
AMERICAN ACADEMY OF OROFACIAL PAIN AWARD: A copy of the
book "Orofacial Pain: Guidelines for Classification, Assessment, and
Management" as well as a one-year subscription to the Journal of Orofacial
AMERICAN ACADEMY OF PERIODONTOLOGY AWARD: A lettered parchment
and a years subscription to the Journal of Periodontology to the outstanding
senior student in periodontics. This award is sponsored by the American Academy
of Periodontology and funded by a grant from the Proctor & Gamble Company.
AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF ENDODONTISTS AWARD: A certificate
and a years subscription to the Journal of Endodontics awarded to the
student who shows the highest degree of proficiency and interest in the field
of endodontics and exemplifies the ideals of the American Association of Endodontists.
AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF ORAL AND MAXILLOFACIAL SURGEONS
AWARD: A certificate to the senior dental student who has demonstrated exemplary
aptitude and achievement in oral and maxillofacial surgery.
AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF ORTHODONTISTS AWARD: A certificate
to the senior student showing exceptional interest in the development of the
AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF PUBLIC HEALTH DENTISTRY AWARD:
A recognition award to the senior dental students who have demonstrated an
interest and achievement in community dentistry and dental public health.
The students will receive a certificate, membership from the
American Association of Public Health Dentistry and a
one-year subscription to the Journal of Public Health Dentistry.
AMERICAN COLLEGE OF DENTISTS AWARD: A plaque awarded by
the Iowa section of the American College of Dentists to a senior student with
outstanding academic achievement and active non-academic participation during
AMERICAN COLLEGE OF PROSTHODONTISTS UNDERGRADUATE ACHIEVEMENT
AWARD: An award presented to an outstanding undergraduate student who has
shown high academic and clinical proficiency in prosthodontics. The award
consists of a plaque.
AMERICAN DENTAL SOCIETY OF ANESTHESIOLOGY, INC. AWARD:
A certificate, one years membership in the society and a years
subscription to the journal, Anesthesia Progress, to the senior student who
has shown outstanding ability or interest in the field of pain control.
AMERICAN EQUILLIBRATION SOCIETY AWARD: A certificate to
a senior student for outstanding performance in the science of occlusion and
temporomandibular joint function.
AMERICAN SOCIETY OF DENTISTRY FOR CHILDREN AWARD: A plaque,
a years membership in the society and a years subscription to
the Journal of Dentistry for Children, for interest and proficiency in childrens
CREST AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE IN PREVENTIVE DENTISTRY FOR
THE ELDERLY AWARD: A plaque is given for exceptional clinical proficiency
and understanding of complex oral health needs of the frail elderly and medically
DENTAL CLASS OF 1923 AWARD: Income from an endowment fund
to three outstanding dental students at the completion of their third year.
Criteria are scholarship, professional attitude, character and personality.
DENTSPLY INTERNATIONAL, INC. AWARD: A plaque to the outstanding
senior student in removable prosthodontics.
DR. RONALD E. LOFGREN SCHOLARSHIP FUND AWARD: In memory
of Dr. Lofgren, an award to a senior dental student who plans to practice
in a rural area.
EDWARD H. KARL ACHIEVEMENT AWARD: A monetary award to
the senior dental student who, during the final years of dental school, demonstrates
the most significant professional and academic growth.
FRANK I. MOLSBERRY MEMORIAL AWARD: In memory of Professor
Frank I. Molsberry a monetary award to a senior student for excellence in
INTERNATIONAL COLLEGE OF DENTISTS AWARD: A plaque to a
senior student who has shown the most professional growth and development
during four years of dental study.
IOWA SOCIETY OF ORAL AND MAXILLOFACIAL SURGEONS AWARD:
A plaque and monetary award to the most promising senior student in oral and
NATIONAL SOCIETY OF DENTAL PRACTITIONERS, INC. AWARD:
An annual award consisting of a certificate and membership in the society
to one graduating senior from each U.S. dental school in recognition of their
interest and knowledge of law and ethics in dental practice.
NORMA ADAMS AWARD: A monetary award following their junior
year in dentistry. All recipients must be Iowans, have demonstrated promise
of high achievement in their chosen profession, and possess qualities of character
and personality which will enhance those skills.
ORGANIZATION OF TEACHERS OF ORAL DIAGNOSIS AWARD: A certificate
awarded to the graduating senior dental student with demonstrated excellence
and promise in the field of oral diagnosis.
PIERRE FAUCHARD ACADEMY AWARD: A certificate to an outstanding
and deserving senior who has exhibited leadership and who through his/her
accomplishments has demonstrated dedication to the advancement of the dental
PREVENTIVE DENTISTRY AWARD: A plaque is given for exceptional
interest and leadership toward the improvement of health and the well-being
of society through a commitment to preventive dentistry.
RESEARCH ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS: These awards recognize exemplary
contributions to dental research. Graduating seniors who have shown substantial
and sustained involvement in productive research during their years in dental
school, as determined by a panel of faculty, staff and students.
TELEDYNE WATER PIK PROSTHODONTIC AWARD: A certificate
and a gift of his/her choice from a list of Teledyne Water Pik products to
a dental student in recognition of outstanding achievement in prosthodontics.
WALLACE W. JOHNSON OPERATIVE DENTISTRY AWARD: A certificate
and monetary award given to senior dental students who have demonstrated outstanding
character, professional dedication and clinical excellence in operative dentistry.
WESLEY COLLINS DARBY MEMORIAL AWARD: Income from an endowment
fund contributed in memory of Dr. Wesley Collins Darby to an outstanding junior
student in operative dentistry.
