Health Iowa workshop focuses on body image
IOWA CITY, Iowa An upcoming University of Iowa workshop will encourage
participants to view their bodies in a more realistic way.
"A Sharper Image: Combating Body Dissatisfaction" will be presented
from 3:30 - 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 8 in the Miller Room (Room 259) of the
Iowa Memorial Union. The workshop is part of "Health Iowa Presents..,"
the continuing series presented by Health Iowa, the educational branch of
the UI Student Health Service.
The workshop, presented by Elizabeth Agresta of Health Iowa, is designed
to analyze how perceptions of body image develop and how they are distorted.
While it may seem that few people are satisfied with how they look, workshop
participants will learn what influences their own body image and how this
affects other areas of their lives. Participants will be shown practical ways
of approaching their bodies that consider individual needs and values.
The workshop is free and open to the public. Individuals with disabilities
are encouraged to attend UI-sponsored events. If you are a person who requires
an accommodation in order to participate in this program, please call Health
Iowa at (319) 335-8388.
