UI to hold Student Job Fair Aug. 26

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- University of Iowa students interested in on-campus employment for the fall 1999 semester are invited to attend a Student Job Fair from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 26 in the Main Lounge of the Iowa Memorial Union.

The fair, sponsored by the University of Iowa Office of Student Financial Aid, will feature more than 50 employers. These employers will offer on-campus, part-time hourly positions and work-study positions at both-on campus and a limited number of eligible off-campus sites. More than 1,700 students attended the 1998 fair and more than 500 received job offers or interviews that day.

Cindy Seyfer, assistant director in the Office of Student Financial Aid, said the fair is an excellent opportunity for students interested in working to find out about the variety of jobs available on the university campus and at qualified off-campus work-study sites. Staff from the Office of Student Financial Aid will be available to answer questions regarding employment options, verify work-study eligibility and explain the payroll process.

For more information about the fair, or about part-time or work-study job opportunities, contact the student employment area of the Office of Student Financial Aid at (319) 335-1460. In addition, students can visit the Jobnet web site to view job listings for university and community work-study and non-work-study jobs. Jobnet is updated daily and can be accessed at the following web site address: http://www.uiowa.edu/financial-aid

The Student Job Fair is one of a series of activities held in conjunction with "A Hawkeye Hello!" This annual event has been extended from one to two "Weeks of Welcome" and is designed to welcome new students and help them become acquainted with the campus, as well as welcome returning students.
