UI commencement ceremonies slated May 13-16

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Nine of the 10 University of Iowa colleges will hold commencement exercises during a four-day period from May 13-16. More than 3,380 degrees are expected to be conferred. Commencement for the College of Dentistry will be June 4.

Here is the schedule of commencement ceremonies for each college, including the number of degree candidates:

College of Pharmacy: Thursday, May 13, 10 a.m., Hancher Auditorium. Number of degrees to be conferred: 75. Degrees will be conferred by UI Vice President Phillip Jones.

School of Management (MBA program), Friday, May 14, 10 a.m., Clapp Recital Hall. Number of degrees to be conferred: 175. Dean Gary C. Fethke will preside. Degrees will be conferred by Vice Provost W.H. Knight, Jr.

Graduate College, Friday, May 14, 2 p.m., Hancher Auditorium. Number of degrees to be conferred: 640. Degrees will be conferred by Vice President David Skorton.

College of Medicine, Friday, May 14, 7:30 p.m. Hancher Auditorium. Number of degrees to be conferred: 170. Dean Robert P. Kelch will preside. Degrees will be conferred by Provost Jon Whitmore.

Henry B. Tippie College of Business, Saturday, May 15, 9 a.m., Hancher Auditorium. Number of degrees to be conferred: 405. Degrees will be conferred by Provost Jon Whitmore.

College of Liberal Arts and College of Education, Saturday, May 15, 9:30 a.m., Carver-Hawkeye Arena. Number of degrees to be conferred: 1,370. Dean Linda Maxson will preside. Degrees will be conferred by President Mary Sue Coleman.

College of Law, Saturday, May 15, 1 p.m., Hancher Auditorium. Number of degrees to be conferred: 185. Degrees will be conferred by UI General Counsel Mark Schantz.

College of Nursing, Saturday, May 15, 5 p.m., Hancher Auditorium. Number of degrees to be conferred: 140. Degrees will be conferred by Associate Provost John Folkins.

College of Engineering, Sunday, May 16, 1 p.m., Hancher Auditorium. Number of degrees to be conferred: 150. Degrees will be conferred by Provost Jon Whitmore.

College of Dentistry, Friday, June 4, 3 p.m., Hancher Auditorium. Number of degree candidates: 70. Degrees will be conferred by Vice President Phillip Jones.
