IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The University of Iowa Office
of Staff Development is presenting a trainers conference Thursday, May 20,
at which training and development professionals will learn about the essential
skills to effectively train and motivate employees.
Training experts from the National Seminars Group
will present workshops on professional training skills, management issues,
and evaluation/performance. Conference attendees can choose from nine specific
sessions with topics including "Performance Management Techniques," "Motivating
the Adult Learner" to "Developing an Evaluation Strategy."
The professional training skills track will focus
on developing effective presentations and motivating participants, while the
management issues track will center on team-building and effective problem-solving
strategies. The third track, evaluation/performance, will concentrate on performance
consulting and needs assessments.
"The trainers conference is a great opportunity to learn
about some of the latest trends in the field of training, including performance
consulting, technology in the classroom, and creating learning organizations,"
said Maureen McCormick, UI staff development coordinator.
