Former U.N. ambassador and human rights activist Jerome S. Shestack will be available to meet with the media at 2:50 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23 in the fourth-floor faculty lounge in the Boyd Law Building at the University of Iowa.

In the early 1970s Shestack helped to found and was chairman of the American Bar Association's Section on Individual Rights, a section that provides leadership to the legal profession in protecting and advancing human rights, liberties and social justice. From 1979 to 1980 as ambassador to the U.N. Human Rights Commission, he launched the U.N. Working Group to investigate political activists' disappearances under repressive regimes.
