IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The founder of an eastern Iowa business consulting company will lead a half-day seminar on ways small businesses can improve their hiring process on Tuesday Sept. 15 at the University of Iowa Pappajohn Business Administration Building.

Jack Ulmer, founder of Ulmer and Associates, will lead the seminar, "The New Art of Hiring Smart," from 9 a.m. to noon Sept. 15 in Room S126 of the Pappajohn Business Administration Building.

The UI Small Business Development Center is sponsoring the session, which requires pre-registration. Cost is $25.

Seminar topics include components and problems in the traditional hiring process, identifying hiring problems, conducting interviews, the true cost of turnover, innovative prospecting techniques, using background checks, and job matching.
