International financial volatility to be discussed at MBA forum Dec.
IOWA CITY, Iowa A panel of representatives from leading financial
service firms will meet Dec. 2 at the University of Iowa College of Business
Administration to discuss the impact of recent international financial
volatility on their businesses and how they have developed strategies to
deal with these rapid changes.
The finance forum, "International Volatility: Impact and Strategies,"
will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 2 in Room S401 in the John
Pappajohn Business Administration Building, the Tenneco Colloquium. Sponsored
by the UI Graduate Financial Management Association and the UI department
of finance, the forum is intended to allow students to interact with the
business community on areas of common interest.
Panel members include:
*Mark Zinkula, portfolio manager for Aegon USA Investment Management,
Inc. in Cedar Rapids
*Michael Rogers, managing director/ industry manager of food and agri-business
for the Bank of America in Chicago
*Jeffrey Lewis, manager of planning and research for the international
lending division at John Deere and Co.'s credit division
*Joseph Marriott of Salomon Smith Barney in Saginaw, Michigan
UI economics professor William Albrecht will moderate the discussion.
Preceding the forum at 4 p.m., students will meet with representatives
from Pillsbury, Sprint, and Bandag and the forum panelists to find out
how each company deals with challenges in the international markets. The
finance forum benefits students in finance and other related areas by letting
them know about career opportunities in finance and other areas.
