IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The University of Iowa department of management sciences
is pleased to announce that Jill Roark has been selected to receive the
second annual Caterpillar Corporation Undergraduate Achievement Award.
The award, which recognizes exceptional achievements both in and out of
the classroom by a senior in management sciences, consists of a $500 cash
prize provided by the Caterpillar Corporation and was presented at a brief
ceremony Friday, May 8 in the department office.
Roark, a senior from Sloan, will graduate May 16 with a degree in management
sciences (management information systems). An honors student with an impressive
grade-point average, Roark holds extensive professional experience both
as a summer intern and, subsequently, a part-time employee of Electronic
Data Systems of Palo. Her extracurricular activities include leadership
positions with the Associated Iowa Honors Students, where she participated
in charity fundraising and volunteer efforts on behalf of the HandiCare
day care center in Coralville and the Metropolitan Area Housing Project
in Cedar Rapids. Until her senior year, she was also a member of the Hawkeye
Marching Band. Roark will be joining Electronic Data Systems as a full-time
employee after graduation.
