President Coleman schedules "fireside chat" for April 6

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The series of "fireside chats" with University of Iowa President Mary Sue Coleman will continue Monday, April 6 from 7-9 p.m. in the Triangle Ballroom at the Iowa Memorial Union. The chats are designed to provide students with an opportunity to communicate their concerns and ideas directly to the UI president and her cabinet.

All interested students may attend the chat. However, invitations are being sent to 500 students chosen at random from the list of current students on record in the Office of the Registrar. The same process will be followed for issuing invitations to a fireside chat to be held in May.

This is the second year President Coleman has held the informal discussions with students. Like last year, she will be accompanied by a vice president at each of the chats. Phillip Jones, vice president for student services, will participate in the April 6 event.

The chats are being co-sponsored by the UI Student Government and the President's Office.

Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to attend all University of Iowa-sponsored events. If you are a person with a disability who requires an accommodation to participate in this program, please contact University Relations at 335-0557.
