Director of UI job-placement office to speak about professional networking
IOWA CITY, Iowa -- If you're looking for a job or trying to make a career
switch, you may be dismayed to discover that it really is true that "who
you know" may get you farther than "what you know." Dee
Hurst, director of the University of Iowa business and liberal arts placement
office, will offer tips on ways to expand your professional network at
a special program Wednesday, March 18 at the Holiday Inn University Park,
West Des Moines.
Hurst's presentation, "The New Rules: Networking in the 90s,"
is co-sponsored by the placement office and the UI Alumni Association.
Hurst will discuss the importance of building professional connections
as a strategy for successful job acquisition or career change. The program
begins at 5:30 p.m. and is free and open to the public. For more information,
contact the UI Alumni Association at (319) 335-3294 or (800) IOWALUM (469-2586).
