Christy Briggs and Rebecca Podlin join executive staff at UI Foundation

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Christy Page Briggs of Iowa City and Rebecca Podlin of Antioch, Ill., have joined the executive staff of the University of Iowa Foundation.

Briggs, who has been with the UI Foundation since 1986, has been promoted from manager to director of Information Systems. She works with the Foundation staff to provide strategic direction for improving current, organization-wide processes by implementing advanced technology solutions.

Briggs recently served as chair of the Iowa IBM AS/400 Computer Users' Group and the ASCEND Users' Group. ASCEND is a database management software for fund-raising organizations. Briggs is also a member of the Kirkwood Community College AS/400 Computer Advisory Committee. She is a leading member of the Big Ten fund raisers' Information Systems group, which she will host on the University of Iowa campus as part of the Big Ten Development Conference to be held this summer.

Podlin joined the UI Foundation Feb. 18 as assistant director of corporate and foundation relations. She previously was assistant director of development at Lambs Farm, Libertyville, Ill., a vocational, residential, and social service program for adults with mental retardation.

Podlin graduated from the University of Iowa in 1992 with bachelor's degrees in journalism and sociology. She has worked for the Cancer Treatment Research Foundation in Arlington Heights, Ill., and the Allendale Association in Lake Villa, Ill.

The University of Iowa Foundation is the preferred channel of support for private contributions to all areas of the University of Iowa. Foundation staff members work with alumni and friends to provide support for a broad range of programs and projects at the University of Iowa.
