Retired UI accounting instructor named to Iowa small business group's board

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Byron R. Ross, a retired adjunct professor of accounting at the University of Iowa College of Business Administration, has been appointed to advise the network of centers that provides support, training and expertise to Iowa small businesses.

Ross, who was a partner in the accounting firm McGladrey and Pullen for 27 years before he began teaching at the UI in 1984, is one of 18 members of the advisory committee of the Iowa Small Business Development Centers (SBDC). He retired from teaching in 1995.

The board advises the state office of the SBDC in its efforts to provide quality management and technical assistance to new and existing for-profit private sector businesses. The three-year appointment expires Dec. 31, 2001.

There are 16 SBDC's in Iowa in addition to the state headquarters in Ames.

Ross earned a master's degree from the UI College of Business Administration.
