WRAC discussion to explore social change through coalition work
IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The fundamentals of how coalition work can lead to
social change will be the topic of a brown bag lunch discussion set for
Tuesday, July 28 at 12:10 p.m. at the University of Iowa Women's Resource
and Action Center (WRAC), 130 N. Madison, Iowa City.
WRAC Director Monique DiCarlo will facilitate the discussion, which
will include the basics of coalition work, sharing experiences about what
has been successful and what was most challenging. The July 28 meeting
is intended to help lay a foundation for a Social Change Training Seminar
on Coalition Building to be held in April 1999.
"I get frustrated watching groups repeat the mistakes we made in
the past, especially related to diversity issues," DiCarlo said. "This
discussion is one way to keep our lessons alive and continue making a difference."
The event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
